once you have mapped out your whole timeline, you can choose how to represent data (i.e. on a curve, on a line, or all in tabular format) and whether or not to display the tasks and their durations in the timeline (they can be hidden altogether if you so wish). you can also use the timeline maker to automatically add comments at specific points in the timeline (i. meetings, interviews). thanks to its automatic insertion of comments and data labels, powerpoint timeline does not require any coding to set the stage. the only thing you need to do is to copy and paste your excel sheet in to the timeline maker itself.

to do so, simply open the powerpoint timeline, choose the location of the table in your excel sheet, and click on save as powerpoint slide (figure 10a). from there, youll be taken to a new, empty powerpoint, where youll see a powerpoint timeline instance as shown in figure 10a. you can also export the timeline to html and vtt ( video timeline tool ), a multimedia player supported by both chrome and firefox browsers. to do so, simply click on the export button from the powerpoint timeline menu (figure 10a), choose which of these three formats youre interested in, and then hit save. your powerpoint will get you back to the original powerpoint timeline, with the exported file attached as an additional video file to the powerpoint (figure 10a).

finally, at this point, the timeline is ready to be exported to a video file. to do so, click on the export button from the powerpoint timeline menu (figure 10a), choose vtt, a multimedia player supported by both chrome and firefox browsers, and then hit save. your powerpoint will get you back to the original powerpoint timeline, with the vtt file attached as an additional video file to the powerpoint. it is important to note that only one audio file and one video file can be exported at the same time. to finalize the slide, you just have to add basic text labels to your timeline, using the newly created text boxes. youll be able to draw a box or an ellipse with the mouse if you choose the text shape option (the ellipse is for the video caption). then, on the home tab of the ribbon, click on text in order to expand the ribbon and find the place to make your edit. when you are done with the slide, save it as a new slide, then close powerpoint timeline. the timeline maker will open up and youll see the slide looking like the one at the beginning of this tutorial (figure 10a). you just have to click on the save button to save it in the file system. next, we used microsatellite loci information for the microsatellite discovery chlamydomonas reinhardtii grin (green genome initiative microsatellite) [34]. although we found some of the estimated number of alleles to be over estimated from the data set for the grin loci, the proportion of polymorphic loci for all three loci was comparable for genic and intergenic regions: this suggests that microsatellite selection has not been wholly responsible for the diminishing numbers of unique loci, or at least not the sole or major factor. 5ec8ef588b
