Once you have installed Adobe Photoshop, you will be prompted to create your first document. Thanks to the Mac version of Elements, I’ve been using Photoshop very regularly for the past several months. In total, I’ve created nine artwork pieces for my photographs, as well as the graphics and typographic elements of various web pages.
I’ve found it to be very powerful and quick. Its biggest drawback is that it works on only one program at a time, and that let you only organize layers in two ways—by stacking and by grouping. The former means you separate your image into areas that you can move, copy or change independently, whereas the latter means you organize groups of layers into a single set of assets. To layer new assets on, you need to flatten the image—in this case, the entire picture—animated layer styles and Photoshop’s various filters. To do that, you need to have at least one empty layer ahead of the one onto which you want to place the new layer. You can’t place a Photoshop layer on the canvas or you’ll overwrite it.
