Hello, I have a Garmin MAP 12 (1093XL) and I downloaded a map that was created in MapSource v5.51. I have been trying to load this map for a few days now and for some reason it won’t load. It will sometimes show a message “not available” and say “would you like to retry?” I click yes and then it will give me a error message saying “no such file or directory”. I’m quite a newbie to GPS navigation, so I am wondering if anyone here could help me out? I believe it has something to do with the file name. The problem is the map was created in MapSource, but I no longer have that program. Can someone help me with this? So it’s been nearly a month since I posted my query in the hopes that someone would be able to help me out. I have gotten closer to a solution and I am posting my progress here. After several attempts I figured out how to upload maps to a MAP 12 (with no additional drivers required). I can map, save, share, add points of interest and export my routes to.gpx format with a normal Garmin GPS. I can’t, however, save any of my maps as a.tab or.txt file. This is because MAP 12 only saves mpg2 files and I’m not sure if you can upload any other mpg2 files to it. I also have been unable to get MapSource’s importing function to work. I have tried loading.dbf,.gpx,.prn,.ptz,.osmbin, and.txt files. I have tried using Garmin’s regular NavRoute and BasicRoute import (none of which has worked). I am trying to understand the format of a.gpx file so that I can figure out how to upload and/or map a.gpx file into MAP 12. As a result, I will be able to upload my waypoints, routes, and tracks into NavRoute for viewing with a standard Garmin GPS (the NavRoute import files into NavRoute are also supported by the original Garmin MapSource). The only problem that I’m left with is importing.gpx files into MapSource. I’m still stuck at the “loading” function. I believe it involves reading the map from the file in.dbf format. I understand that someone more knowledgeable than me may have already come across this problem. I would love to hear any tips that you may have. Feel free to share. 5ec8ef588b
