the hipstreet phoenix has a microsd slot and the card is shown when the device is plugged into a computer. the card is a 32gb model, which is great for recording lots of photos and videos and keeping all of them. this also means the manufacturer is telling the truth about the size of the storage, which is a good thing. of course, if the manufacturer had opted for 64gb, there wouldn’t be much left for the end-user, but at least they are being honest about the amount of internal storage. the phoenix has a micro usb slot, which is one of the most obvious flaws in the design. on first glance, the design is rather clever, with a tab that folds over the device to hold it in the correct position, but when the device is unfolded, the tab comes off and the case is flimsy. so be careful, the hinge is not strong.
the storage case for the phoenix is plastic and feels cheap to the touch. when the hipstreet phoenix is closed, the case is flimsy and can come off with a little pressure. i am not sure how long the warranty is on this device, but it would be nice to know this. i don’t want to risk damaging the unit and then be out of warranty. personally, i wouldn’t be surprised to see the warranty expire after a year or so. maybe the warranty is only 12 months and the manufacturer will extend it.
the only good thing about the hipstreet tablet is its portability. the screen is excellent and its easy to hold. it can also be used as a decent media player. this is a great tool for younger kids to help them learn about new things. with the parental controls, you can limit screen time, download apps, or even give your kids a tablet of their own, without the hassle of having to worry about them using a phone.
