Navigon 7.7.5 Build 447 For Wince 5.0
Hi, I just ordered this unit thinking I would do all the things you say you can’t do because of the features you mention. I’m not sure if you’ll be up to date on the drivers, but I use a wince 5.0 OS 2.0 Acer Wifi (intel). I’m going to be using my wince because I don’t want to be tied down with a cellular contract. I’ve been doing some research on this unit and my new thinking is that Navigon is just pushing to get me to buy the 2100 and that’s all. I’ve never bought a “navigation” product before so I have no idea what it takes to make it an affordable unit. I know that if I bought the TomTom I would need to buy other memory because I have what it takes. With Navigon, why can’t I have 20 or 30MB at a time? I’m not paying over $20 a month for text and voice. I was so looking forward to having a 5.0 OS Windows product that I would have to pay for. I was hoping for that 15″ inch screen, but no such luck. The 3200 and 4500 have 320×320 resolution and 2.4 inch screen and over $200, but they have at least 10MB or more memory. I know what I’m paying now is going to increase if I keep the 2100 because of the additional memory.
I had the 2100 & thought the service was great, but the functionality of maps is not much different than the 5100 (which I have). But at least maps is solved with 7.7.5 build 447 — you should try to see what maps will do for you. I have not tried European maps yet, but I have read they should work fine. And thats good — you can try it too: build 477 is the latest European maps.
I have version 2.0. The maps are fine, but there was a “bug” in the downloads. There is no such thing as a directory on the WINDOWSXP computers I use. Always need to be careful downloading from the internet. I have had this happen to me in the past. Not sure what will be the next map to download from Navigon’s site.
