This game is a sequel to the original TARNISHED world series, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This iteration has been fully updated and is so much better. Since you’re still on the main thread, I’ll mention a few points: Armor is very easy to get for you RP characters so if you’re RPing, you can wear whatever you want. Classes don’t seem to have gear sets per se so you can kind of just mix and match what you have on your character. It does look like you can get a slot for a helmet though, but I don’t know if it is doable to get a full set and what the stats are for it. There are new story segments that basically act as an interactive roleplaying comic. You see the reactions of people that had been present during various events in the earlier adventures so there’s some sort of interaction between them that is actually pretty interesting. The story is told in pieces and is actually pretty interesting. Of course it would be easy to get frustrated by the amount of prologue you see, but once things start getting interesting you start getting your first answer and you are hooked on. Some of the NPCs are more cliché than others but the story is told in a way that is fairly natural. There are a few little Easter eggs that you can find here and there if you look around but nothing major. Overall it is a blast to play through, definitely worth a purchase if you liked the first game. If you didn’t, don’t bother unless you just want to try it and see what it’s like. I was wondering whether I could keep my thumbs and forefingers on the edge of my keyboard, because it seems easy to get the B button stuck in the position I want to nudge the buttons. I want to start using FOB and Shortkeys (though granted they weren’t in Shulk’s move list). I’ve only started playing the base game. I thought the Fairytale RPG elements were included at first glance, just from the brief glimpse in the trailer (the cutscene with Shulk when he’s scanning the city for the ending). The difficulty though is that unlike the other FF games, all the enemies are weak to Fireball. I might try a Lightning Staff, or a Fire Staff, but I don’t want to experiment with losing most of Shulk’s regular moves. Is there any way to restore the fairy tale RPG elements in post like a last chance save, or do I have to be super lucky?
