i have to be honest, i didnt have much high hopes for this one. i thought that it was going to be a cull of prior episodes and i couldnt understand why they had decided to make this game in the first place; the second episode isnt exactly something that youd want to play back to back with the first game. as i said though, the game packs in a lot of little nuggets here and there that make it a game worth playing through, and once the campaign is finished you can visit the old world and experience the whole of it through a second playthrough. all of the classes are fun to play as, though the assassin, wizard and magician were my personal favourites; i enjoyed them all and everything fits together nicely. and if your a fan of the source engine games then youll definitely enjoy this one too. we made the decision to release final cut without the source engine.
while all of van helsings characters follow the same campaign storyline, the thaumaturge and arcane mechanic dlc each have 3 unique quests. in themselves these quests arent special, just the usual go here, fetch that, protect this or kill that sort of thing. and on the whole the dlc is a bit shy on content; neither pack offers more than a new character and a few new quests and maps. to be honest, i was initially annoyed by the lack of content and by the fact that i had to create totally new characters and replay the story to experience these dlc.
